Swing Picker? Really Considering One

October 01, 2024

I have so many fleeces that need to be made into yarn. Admittedly, I go to farms, sheep festivals, and other events and can’t control myself. I see many fleeces and need to bring one or more home.

Bags and bags of fleece are waiting impatiently to be made into something amazing. The next process in prepping them is to comb or card them. It is very time-consuming, and using a Hand Picker would reduce that prep time a lot.

Hand Pickers are expensive. They start at $650 for new small ones. I am planning on going to the New York Sheep & Wool Festival in a couple weeks. They have an auction of fiber tools. I will take a look and see if there is one I can win. If not, I have been watching youtube videos on how to make them inexpensively at home. Frank can always use another fun project. 🙂

I found the plans the people below used to make their swing picker.

If you haven't seen what Craftsy teaches yet, join ... it's only $2.49 (or less sometimes)!
